Professor Michael Tirant (Ph.D.), Clinical Research Scientist and Professor of Clinical and Integrated Dermatology is the founder and Principal Practitioner of Psoriasis Eczema Clinic. He has spent over 30 years researching and specialising in Integrated Dermatology.
Prof. Tirant completed much of his formal studies at Monash University, Victoria, Australia. In the early 1980’s, an interest in Complementary Medicine saw Dr.Tirant undertake many studies completing a Diploma of Acupuncture, Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine, Diploma in Naturopathy, Diploma of Natural Therapies (Vitamin & Mineral) and a post-graduate course in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (Australian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine). Dr. Tirant has also lectured in Biochemistry and Nutritional Medicine. Although Prof. Tirant is a Complementary Medicine Practitioner and not a Dermatologist, he has been allowed to attend Dermatology Lectures, Conferences, Patient Consultations and Hospital Internal Training in Vienna, Prague, Budapest and other European cities. He has also been asked on many occasions to present case studies at these Conferences and Lectures and to attend as a visiting Practitioner and conduct Patient Consultations at various Hospitals. In December 2016, Prof. Tirant was granted a full Professorship in Dermatology by the University of Studies Guglielmo Marconi, Rome.
With over 30 years of clinical practice in Integrated Dermatology, knowledge of clinical biochemistry, and years of working and collaborating with Professors of Dermatology, Prof. Tirant has been able to propose and research possible pathways eliciting dermatological flare-ups and various avenues for treatment.
Prof. Tirant has scientifically formulated the Dr Michaels topical and Seloderma oral range of medications for the treatment of skin conditions. Prof. Tirant has not only continued to strive to improve the topical treatments (to treat the symptoms) but has also developed an innovative approach for the patient, which involves combating the exacerbating triggers with oral medications and changes to diet and lifestyle. After many years of research Prof. Tirant also noted a remarkable and interesting factor, that the primary triggers (that initiate the initial flare-up of the condition) and some of the secondary triggers (that continue to exacerbate the condition) are blood group related.
After spending years researching and treating psoriasis, Prof. Tirant began to research and treat other skin conditions as he saw a commonality in the precipitating triggers that initiate and continue to exacerbate these conditions. This eventually led Prof. Tirant to develop his own treatment protocols.
